Fundraising Tips!

Ontario SPCA "Friends for Life!" Walk-a-thon
Go to the:
RENFREW COUNTY Branch FUNDRAISING WEBSITE
----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
Fundraising Ideas

* Register at the walk-a-thon website. You'll find lots of tools and resources including importing all your email contacts! You also wont have to worry about having to bring any of the pledges that are made online with you to the walk-a-thon.

*Start collecting pledges sooner rather than later. Ask friends, family, co-workers, people you see at extra-curricular activities, etc.

*Make a button of your pet (or the animal you're walking in honor of) as a conversation starter. When someone comments on your button, ask if they are interested in sponsoring your for the walk-a-thon.

*Place a candy jar on yoru desk with donations for candy going towards your walk-a-thon goal.

*Place a dog or cat dish on your desk at work and ask for donations

*Ask friends or relatives to pass your pledge form around at their bridge clubs, churches, and social events. Be sure to include a photo of your pet :)
*Take a pledge form to daycare or school and ask for pledges
*Take orders and make sack lunches ("Doggie Bags") for your co-workers. Your "profit" is pledges towards your walk-a-thon goal. This same idea can be used for daily coffee runs for co-workers.
*Use this event to help teach your children about the importance of supporting worthwhile causes. Every time he or she accomplishes a task (washing dishes, taking out the garbage, cleaning up their room) without a reminder from you, contribute a dollar towards their pledges.
*Host a neighborhood party with a pledge as the "cover charge"
*Have donors sign the team shirt you created and wear it the day of the walk.
*Form a team! Being in a team can help you be encourage by other team members and brainstorm ways to get more pledges.

Form a Team

Ontario SPCA "Friends for Life!" Walk-a-thon
Go to the:
RENFREW COUNTY Branch FUNDRAISING WEBSITE

Form a Walk-a-thon Team to Help Homeless Animals!
A team is any group of participants that collectively raise money for the Ontario SPCA at the Friends for Life Walk-a-thon.

Why Form a Team?

Fun, exercise, and bonding are all great reasons to consider forming a team for the walk-a-thon. Forming a team helps a group of people can help team members encourage one another to raise funds to help homeless animals; promote their love for animals; and give people a great reason to get together!

How to Form a Team

1. Register at the walk-a-thon website. You can join or create a team at the same time!

2. Gather friends, family, co-workers, people you play sports with, members of your church, etc.

3. Decide on a team fundraising goal and brainstorm ways to meet it.

4. Import all your email contacts to the walk-a-thon website and send an email to every one encouraging them to support your mission to help animals.

5. Have get togethers to see how everyone is doing and encourage one another.

6. Figure out something to make your team stand out. For example, wear the same colour shirt the day of the walk, making shirts with your team name on it, dress up as animals, etc! Be creative :)

7. Show up the day of the walk-a-thon, walk, have fun, and do it again next year :)

Young and old turned out for Volunteer Appreciation Night 2009!
The Volunteer Appreciation Night was a night to thank our volunteers for all their efforts and recognize who extremely special they are to us!

They are the brightest shooting stars in our sky of volunteers :)

Doug is our Bingo Buff!! He won the "Bingo Buff" award for all his efforts to keep our bingo running smoothly!

Jill was the recipient of our "Night Owl" award!
