As many of you are aware, we had a “Doggie Spa Day” on Saturday August 23, 2008. The day was a great success with beautiful weather and a good turnout.
During the event dogs from the community got a chance to receive “spa” treatments. Dog varieties attending ranged from large to small and fluffy to hairless. Even the shelter dogs got their turn to be pampered! Each shelter dog got cleaned up with a bath while they wait to go to their forever homes. Some of the spa treatments included baths as well as “pedicures and manicures”.
We would like to thank everyone who showed their support by attending. We would also like to send out a special thank you to all the hardworking volunteers. We could not have pulled off the “Doggie Spa Day” without you! A couple of our volunteers were able to showcase their skills at our event including:
- Veterinarian Tina Zaleskie was on site to answer medical related questions as well as help guide a young student on the path to becoming a veterinarian.
- Volunteers extraordinaire, Lea Thompson and Julie McBride, helped keep all claws neatly trimmed by offering “pedicures and manicures” to willing canines.
“T Touch” Tester and animal behaviour guru Jill Kolar was also on site to help with any questions pet owners may have about their pet’s mannerisms.
Also during the “Doggie Spa Day” Jamie Sabot arrived from South-Western Ontario to fill in for Erin Norris during her maternity leave as the branch’s Humane Education and Volunteer Coordinator. Jamie is excited to work with everyone involved at the Renfrew County Branch of the OSPCA and looks forward to hearing from you! You can reach her at ospcavoled@vianet.ca
Overall, the day turned out to be a great time to get some sun, pamper our pets and have a meet and greet for shelter staff and volunteers.
Thanks again for all your support!
