Rabbits, Rabbits and More Rabbits!

Hop right in! We're up to our ears in bunnies! If you're looking for a new "family member" a rabbit might be the right pet for you! Check out this link to find out more about caring for rabbits. Then stop by the shelter to see if one of our rabbits is what you're looking for! See you soon!

Thank You Madeline!

We would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to Madeline who showed she is a humane hero! For her 13th birthday, instead of asking for gifts for herself, she asked her party guests to bring something that would benefit the Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch (animal shelter) instead! Madeline's generosity is truly inspiring!

Get Fit with Fido Kicks Off!

The "Get Fit with Fido" program at the shelter kicks off today! There are 10 people signed up for the program and they will be in friendly competition with each other to get the most "dog walk hours" in by the end of February. The person with the most walks in will get a prize! If you've missed the date to sign up for the program but would still like to be involved contact Jamie at 613-588-4508 or by email at: ospcavoled@vianet.ca.

Good luck to all our walkers!

Back in the Swing of Things

With Christmas and New Years behind us, things are getting back to normal around the shelter. We are once again open 7 days a week with operating hours of 10am to 5pm during the week and 10am to 4pm on the weekend. Although we did not reach our goal of having all our adoptable pets "Home for the Holidays", December was still great month for adoptions! In December 34 cats, 13 dogs and 5 "others" (guinea pigs, rabbits and a pot belly pig) found forever homes and were "Home for the Holidays". Congratulations to all the pets and a big thank you to all the families who open their homes to a shelter animal!

Now that the Christmas gifts have been given and the cookies are long gone, it's time to find other "simple pleasures" to keep us warm and happy for the rest of the winter. A great way to get some sunlight and exercise (both proven to chase away the winter blues) is to become a volunteer at the shelter and walk the dogs. If cuddles are more your style, we have lots of dogs, cats and small animals just waiting for some more attention! If people are your passion, why not consider looking into becoming an Adoption Centre Host? If you're over 16 years old and want to kick off the new year by helping out our fuzzy friends contact the shelter or come out to our next Volunteer Orientation night which is scheduled for Tuesday February 3rd at 6pm at the shelter (387 Paquette Road, Petawawa).

Wishing you a warm winter with lots of cuddles!
