Virtual Walkers! Oh My!

The Ontario SPCA
Friends for Life Walk-a-thon
is scheduled for May 23 Deep River
& May 24th in Petawawa.

Question:

...But how can you help if you can't make it the day of the walk?

Answer:

...Be a part of the Virtual Walkers Team!
This is a team for people that can't make it the day of the walk(s) but still want to help out! This team will be raising funds just like a regular team! Their goal is $2000! Join this team and get started helping them reach their goal!
Click the link below to check out the team:

https://ontariospca.akaraisin.com/pledge/Team/Home.aspx?seid=2449&mid=10&Lang=en-CA&tid=2636

Once registered you will see lots of tools and resources to help collect pledges. You can also create or join teams! The walk is almost 2 months away but it's better to get started earlier rather than later!

You can also watch your pledges grow online and see where the Renfrew County Branch is overall. This is our single biggest fundraiser of the year so lets all try our best to raise as much money as we can while putting the FUN back in fundraiser :)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Please forward this information on to anyone and everyone you know that wants to help the Ontario SPCA help animals province wide! Together we can raise the funds needed to continue to help thousands of animals all across Ontario! The animals don't have a voice but we can speak for them by letting our friends and family know that they are important to us! Please support the Ontario SPCA Friends for Life Walk-a-thon as it is the single biggest fundraiser of the year for the Ontario SPCA.

Fun and Games at the Shelter

The cats were thrilled with some new toys that were donated! They batted around crinkle balls on strings all afternoon! It was a great way to keep them occupied and playing together.

Ontario SPCA offers information on how to raise kind kids via email.

During the month of April, the Renfrew County Branch of the Ontario SPCA will be offering an email learning series about how to raise kind kids. The information will be delivered directly to the email inboxes of people in the community who wish to receive it. The series will include tips and information for parents and caregivers on how to help their children in becoming humane, kind citizens that respect all beings.

This email learning series is part of the Humane Education Program offered at the Ontario SPCA. The Ontario SPCA identifies Humane Education as one of its priorities and aims to support this by being actively involved in our community through the promotion of humane education.Education is one of the key ways that we can prevent cruelty. It helps ensure that all animals receive the respect that they deserve and allows them to be a positive and helpful addition to our lives, families and communities.

People interested in receiving the “Raising Kind Kids” email learning series do not need to be volunteers of the shelter. Everyone from the community is welcome to receive this information the Ontario SPCA encourages anyone who is interested to email Jamie, the Volunteer and Humane Education Coordinator, at
jsabot@ospca.on.ca to sign up for this email learning series.

Spring Must Be Here...

Boo, now known as Ruffus, stopped by the shelter today for a visit! Ruffus was adopted from the shelter in January and we were super excited to get an adoption update. Ruffus has happily settled into his new home and his new family couldn't be more grateful to have him. Congratulations to Ruffus and his new family! If you're looking for a new friend please stop by the shelter. You may just find your own Ruffus!

Please help us find home for history's most controversial companion animal

This Friday the 13th, give a loving home to history’s most controversial companion animal – the black cat! Many black cats (and dogs) are in need of a new reputation and a second chance at a loving home!

Contrary to popular belief in North America, most cultures consider the black cat an esteemed and favoured companion. They represent good luck in Japan and Britain, and in Egypt they are even considered sacred. In North America, they are synonymous with walking under ladders and breaking mirrors!

The sad truth across Ontario is that more black cats enter shelters than any other colour and end up staying longer. It is time to discard old superstitious tales and admire these lovely and playful companion animals for their true, loyal nature. Black cats have purrsonality!

The Ontario SPCA Renfrew County Branch currently has three black beauties looking for a forever:

Nutmeg is an absolutely gorgeous 5 year old domestic long haired cat. This big beautiful girl is perfect for snuggling (she's just a big lap cat!), and her black fur with caramel coloured streaks is just stunning. Nutmeg has a wonderful personality: she is independent and can entertain herself, but she also loves attention and companionship. If this sounds like just the type of relationship you're looking for, swing by and see Nutmeg! She is just what you need to snuggle up with on these cold winter nights.

Angie is a shy little princess who likes to hang back and take it all in. She doesn't mind attention but has a real independent streak and likes to do things in her own time. Don't be put off, though, even if she's not shouting for attention, she's definitely thinking of you and adoring you even from afar. Give her a little time, though, and she'll be head-butting you and purring for more in no time.

Puff is a 1 year old female and has the personality of a sidekick. Like all sidekicks, she’s just plain good company! She likes attention but also likes her solitude. She doesn’t go looking for trouble but she’s no scaredy cat either! If you’re looking for a steady companion to travel with you on the road of life, look no further!

Stop by the animal shelter at 387 Paquette Road to find your forever friend. The shelter is open 10am to 5pm during the week and 10am to 4pm on the weekends.
